First Afternoon of Sightseeing

Well, now we found ourselves in a hostel and feeling a little more human. With coupon vouchers for our breakfast and dinner in hand, we stashed our stuff, took a few beats to unpack, and call loved ones, then headed out to see the Mirabell Gardens.

Salzburg is pretty as a poem. The colors are pastels and striking against the blue or grey sky.

The day was overcast and quite cold, but the Mirabel gardens were beautiful. Here are some pictures!

After the gardens we stopped at a little market that sold cold cuts and cheese, as well as olives and exotic sweets. I bought German bread and really yummy cheese!

To find a bit of warmth on the way home we stopped by a coffee shop and had hot chocolate or Mozart coffee, which came with whipped cream and a Mozart ball!

After dinner tonight we head out to the candle lit labyrinth at the Dom (the city's cathedral).

Leaving on a Jetplane...

Well, after a brutal semester and busy season of work, I'm off to Austria and Germany for the Salzburg Global Seminar, followed by a museum hopping adventure in Salzburg, Munich, and Vienna!

While our tickets were a gift from the university, the travel itinerary was stressful; altogether we flew on two airplanes, rode by bus and train from Munich to Salzburg, and then walked on foot to our hostel- all within the span of 24 hours.

Here are some highlights from up in the air:

San Francisco, the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island

The East Bay

Cloud Formation on the way to Philadelphia

US Airways terminal at the Philly Airport

Chicken Dinner! Amazingly good. I have to say, my low expectations of US Airways were completely unfounded!

And what would dinner be without a movie? Finally, watched the last Twilight!

Munich Airport! Good morning Europe! Here's to the start of another great adventure!

I know it will be a good one if we're in a land where the central train station has such a cute children's waiting area! :)
